Founded in 2005, Manos Unidas is a group of researchers, educators, students, and community members who acknowledge the valuable scientific contributions made by deaf Nicaraguans and their families, and who recognize the great need experienced by this unique population of research participants. Manos Unidas works directly with Nicaraguan deaf people and their families to safeguard their health and well-being and to enrich their employment opportunities. Manos Unidas also partners with local community organizations to create and improve educational and vocational resources for both hearing and deaf students.

NEW! Dr. Marie Coppola and Leslie Bermingham of Manos Unidas were interviewed by Jerome McDonnell, host of the program "Worldview" on Chicago Public Radio, as part of their Global Activism Series.
